Welcome to the fun boat!

Key to rafting happiness:

Have as much fun as possible!
This is a shot of "The Wall" a super fun hit on the chill, Athabaska, Mile 5 Run.
I love how the three kids wanted to bow ride through it and that one kid second from the back looks like she's having the best time of her life!
Welcome to the office.

Mount Robson

Seeing it like this with no clouds it pretty rare. This shot was taken Two years ago at Fraser Fest. I had another cable sent for my camera and yet aagain it was the wrong one. That's 0 for 3.

Penalties!

The Six Pack Rule:

A system of punishing people for making mistakes at work where a person who has done wrong is made to buy a six pack to put in the beer fridge at the compound.

You get "six packed" for doing anything from being more than 15 minutes late for work, to forgetting gear or falling out of the raft and swimming. So far our fridge is getting pretty full.

I personally don't mind this rule, it's much better than the penalty for swimming if you're kayaking.

That looks like this:

"The Drink a Beer out of your Booty if you Swim Rule"

The look on everybody's faces in the background says it all!

I have Arrived!

I woke up at 5am, stumbled to my car, and set off from Canmore.

The drive was spectacular. Rain poured and mountains loomed behind the fog before the sun came out and made everything look like it was made of silver and gold. I saw tons of wildlife, including three bears. Those are some impressive animals, although the last one I saw looked like he was pretty chill, strolling along the road.

When I got to Jasper itself I had no idea where I needed to go so I went to the tourist info office and found a pamflet for Malign Rafting and called the number.

I met Darren and one other guy whose name I can't remember and they helped me get moved in. Thanks guys... they also thought my boat looked pretty. I can't wait to put some scratches in it!

My place is nice, I've spent all day getting settled. The first thing I saw when I walked in was my room mate's banjo... I think it's going to be a good summer.

This is Jasper

This is Jasper. I am not there yet. I still need to finish an essay and pack before I can leave. I anticipate that I will make it to Canmore in the early afternoon, but nothing's set in stone yet.

Leaving right now is bitter sweet. I will miss a few good people a lot, but really it's time to go for a while. Wake me up in September... I hope I don't fall asleep at the wheel tomorrow.

Everybody say hello to Rearguard falls!

This is where I'll be working. Beautiful!

Now would be a good time to sleep... goodnight and goodbye (in person)

for now.
